Key Responsibilities 

• Assessment & Architecture Design: Assess the current database environment, including database engine, deployment model, version, database size, data structure, read/write frequency, and system dependencies, to propose an appropriate database architecture.
• Database System Deployment: Install and configure Single Instance, Primary-Secondary, Multi-Primary, and Database Clustering architectures for open-source databases, including MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis, as well as search and streaming systems such as OpenSearch/ELK and Kafka.
• High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and operate HA/DR solutions, including Sync/Async Replication, Automated Failover, and cluster configurations such as Galera, InnoDB Cluster, Patroni, MongoDB Replica Set/Sharded Cluster, and Redis Sentinel/Cluster.
• Backup, Restore & Recovery: Establish comprehensive backup strategies, perform regular restore testing, and configure Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) for critical systems, ensuring RPO ≤ 1 hour and RTO ≤ 4 hours.
• Database Migration: Utilize specialized Database Migration (CDC/Replication) tools for open-source databases and perform cut-over activities following a standardized playbook: Stop Write → Final Delta Sync → Switch Connection String → Verify. Re-establish reverse replication after cut-over to ensure rollback capability.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Deploy and maintain comprehensive Database Monitoring and Alerting systems to proactively detect abnormalities related to performance, capacity, replication, and cluster health.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize Indexes, Queries, Buffer Pool/Shared Buffers, and Cache parameters, and perform Capacity Planning to ensure database performance and scalability.
• Hypervisor Optimization for Databases: Collaborate with the infrastructure team to optimize resources at the virtualization layer (OpenStack, VMware), including CPU Pinning/NUMA configuration, Memory allocation, Storage I/O, and Network optimization, to ensure optimal performance of database services running on top of the virtualization platform.
• Operations Support: Troubleshoot database incidents and issues, and develop Knowledge Base (KB) documentation and training materials to support L2 operations teams.

Requirements 

Required Skills

• Open-source Database Administration: Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in designing, deploying, operating, and performing advanced optimization for PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB, and Redis.
• High Availability & Clustering: Proven hands-on experience deploying and administering Cluster/High Availability (HA) architectures, including Patroni, Galera Cluster, InnoDB Cluster, MongoDB Replica Set/Sharded Cluster, and Redis Sentinel/Cluster. Strong troubleshooting skills for replication issues such as Replication Lag, Split-brain, and Broken Replication.
• Backup/Restore & PITR: Experience designing and operating comprehensive backup and restore strategies, performing regular restore testing, and configuring Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) for critical systems.
• Open-source Database Migration: Hands-on experience migrating open-source database systems using CDC/Replication tools such as Debezium, AWS DMS, or equivalent. Experience with cut-over activities and post-migration data integrity validation.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Experience deploying and configuring database monitoring tools such as Prometheus/Grafana, Zabbix, PMM, or equivalent to monitor database performance, capacity, cluster health, and replication status.
• Performance Tuning & Capacity Planning: Strong experience in Index Optimization, Query Tuning, Cache/Buffer Configuration, and capacity planning to improve system performance and optimize infrastructure costs.
• Search & Streaming Systems: Hands-on experience deploying and operating OpenSearch/ELK Stack and Apache Kafka.
• Hypervisor Knowledge: Practical knowledge and experience with virtualization platforms such as OpenStack and/or VMware, including CPU/Memory Allocation, Storage I/O, and Networking. Ability to optimize resources at the hypervisor layer to improve the performance of database services running on top of it.
• Documentation & Communication: Strong technical documentation and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders, including customers and operations teams.

Preferred / Nice-to-have Skills

• Experience with Debezium, Kafka Connect, or other CDC/Replication tools.
• Experience operating and optimizing open-source databases across different workloads, such as OLTP and OLAP.
• Experience deploying and operating DBaaS (Database as a Service) on public cloud platforms, such as Amazon RDS or equivalent services.
• Experience with Proxy/Connection Pooling solutions such as ProxySQL, HAProxy, and PgBouncer.
• Scripting skills in Python and/or Bash for task automation.
• Relevant Database, Cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), or Virtualization (VMware/OpenStack) certifications are a plus.
• English: Good reading comprehension and communication skills in English.

• Working hours:
  • 8h30 AM – 12h00 PM
  • 1h00 PM – 5h30 PM

• Working days: Monday to Friday (weekends off)
