Job description

About the team: FPT Cloud Desktop (FCD) is FCI’s DaaS/VDI service, running on FPT Cloud’s OpenStack-based IaaS and serving thousands of virtual desktops for enterprise customers. The Platform Engineer owns the reliability, performance and evolution of the FCD service, and works closely with Product to turn customer needs into technical solutions.

• Platform operations: operate, monitor, troubleshoot and optimize the FCD service (virtual desktops, broker, gateway, golden images and service components), ensuring uptime and a stable experience for end-users.
• Feature research & development: research, design and develop new features for the FCD core service according to the product roadmap — from technical evaluation and solution design to implementation and rollout.
• Service components: build and maintain golden images, automated provisioning and broker/client integration.
• Automation & containers: standardize operations with Ansible/Python/Bash; operate FCD service components running on Docker/Kubernetes.
• Incident management: lead RCA, rollback and remediation for FCD service incidents.
• Product & presale support: provide technical input on feasibility, effort and trade-offs for the roadmap, customer PoCs and new deals (supporting role, not a sales role).

•  Documentation: write runbooks, architecture documents and operational procedures.

Job Requirements

Must-have:

• 3+ years as a Cloud/Platform/Infrastructure Engineer operating a cloud or virtualization platform in production (OpenStack, VMware, Proxmox or equivalent).
• Solid virtualization fundamentals (KVM preferred, or VMware ESXi) and ability to troubleshoot production issues (compute, storage, network).
• Strong Linux administration (Ubuntu, CentOS/Rocky) and Linux networking (DNS, routing, VLAN/VXLAN).
• Programming skills (Python preferred) to design and develop service features and integrations.
• Automation with Ansible or Bash, and Git; familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix or equivalent).
• Product mindset: understands requirements from PO/customers and proposes solutions that balance end-user experience, cost and effort.
• Able to read technical documents and communicate in English.

Advantages (optional):

• Production experience with OpenStack (Nova, Cinder, Neutron/OVN), especially deployments using Kolla-Ansible.
• Experience with VDI/DaaS (VMware Horizon, Citrix, OpenUDS).
• Knowledge of AD, Kerberos, LDAP, Azure AD DS.
• Certifications: COA, RHCE, CKA, AWS/Azure or equivalent
